Mendip Activity Centre is a multi-activity centre in the Mendip Hills near Bristol that delivers year-round indoor and outdoor school residentials and activity days for 30 to 300 students.
Mendip has been working with schools to provide quality outdoor education for almost forty years. They are experts in adapting each trip to suit your educational needs.
Mendip Activity Centre’s site is just a short drive from Cheddar and set on a stunning 250-acre site on the edge of the Mendip Hills AONB. The site is fortunate to be filled with ancient woodland, a rock-sports limestone quarry, a 200-metre snowsports slope, rolling grasslands, target sport ranges and even frisbee-golf course. A private river is a short drive away.
Mendip Activity Centre provide five-day action-packed school residentials designed to build resilience, increase confidence and inspire young people. There are thee options:
Indoor Accommodation: Bunk-room style accommodation minimum numbers 55 to 86
Mendip Basecamp: Canvas-style accommodation minimum numbers 55 to 300.
Pop-up Tented Village: Minimum numbers 30
All catering is included and made onsite with a focus on nutritious, delicious food. Accommodation options include Mendip Basecamp, the canvas village, Mendip Lodge, the country bunk-house, or the pop-up-tent village. Teacher spaces are always free and Mendip knows how important it is to ensure teachers are comfortable during their stay!
Mendip will design the perfect week of activities for you during your stay. Activities include rock climbing, bushcraft, abseiling, kayaking, paddleboarding, canoeing, assault course, raft building, low ropes, caving, orienteering, archery, axe throwing, frisbee golf, tobogganing, skiing and snowboarding. Evening activities could include night walks, team games, camp fires.
Activity days are also available with a range of curriculum-based sessions on offer. Learn about the geology and history of the caves and gorges in the Mendip Hills, explore rivers from source to sea or see the impact of climate change and ways to combat it hands on in the woodland.
