Avon Tyrrell, UK Youth Outdoor Activity Centre is an established site located in the stunning New Forest National Park. The centre offers an extensive range of adventure activities, field studies activities and outdoor learning programmes that are linked to the National Curriculum and are independently quality assured.
What We Offer Visiting Schools
Open all year round, Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Activity Centre sits privately in a 65 acre estate and offers flexible and affordable 1-4 night residentials. You will find some incredibly affordable packages in the Autumn/Winter with a range of fun, educational activities designed for the colder months ensuring everyone has the same opportunities to experience, learn and develop.
Our Grade I listed calendar house offers full board accommodation and combines historic charm with modern facilities such as key coded locks, Wi-Fi and separate leaders rooms. We also offer accommodation in our lodges if you are looking to give your students more independence.
Whether you enjoy our Avon Tyrrell adventure, environmental activities or a mixture of both, all our sessions are carefully reviewed by trained staff to ensure that individuals experience outdoor learning and can take something away from their visit. With different package options individually tailored to meet the demands of your group, our outdoor learning opportunities contribute significantly to raising standards and improving student’s personal, social and emotional development.

Group Sizes Catered For
Our accommodation consists of camping areas (pre-pitched tents), comfortable lodges sleeping up to 62 and our Manor House sleeping 20-109 people across 3 different wings with a mixture of dormitory-style rooms and leader bedrooms.
Itineraries, Resources, and Workshops
Whilst we tailor each visit to individual needs and required learning outcomes, all sessions are linked to the National Curriculum and support continued learning and development back in the classroom. Whether your group is here for one session, a day or a full week residential, we will create a bespoke programme for you to ensure you get the most out of your visit.

Pricing Information
We can be flexible and work with teachers to their budgets and desired outcomes, making the visit completely bespoke to their student’s needs and outcomes. This allows us to offer affordable and bespoke rates on day visits throughout the year. Please contact our Customer Experience team for more information.
Facilities
Schools can have access to our floodlit sports courts for tennis and basketball as well as a grass football pitch. We also have a campfire site for use in the evenings and an on-site shop for snacks and small souvenirs and gifts. There are facilities to eat a packed lunch and a marquee is available for additional socializing space.

Accessibility and Disabled Facilities
Avon Tyrrell is a fully accessible site with adapted facilities and specialised equipment, to ensure all guests have the same opportunities. The main house has wide access doors, wheelchair ramps and a lift and we have additional equipment including shower trolleys and hoists.
An accessible pathway leads down to the lake where our Boathouse holds a disabled wet room and toilet facility. Hoists can be fitted at the lake and extra harnessing equipment is available for the at height activities.
