Xplore! Science Discovery Centre

Xplore! Science Discovery Centre

Xplore! is the premier Science Discovery Centre in North Wales attracting families,  tourists, community groups, and school groups of all ages.

Xplore! is a visitor attraction and educational charity in the heart of Wrexham.  As a subsidiary company to Wrexham University,  we exist to see the local and regional communities actively engaged with and passionate about science, enriching the lives of over 70,000 visitors every year.

Our Purpose

To be a home for science. To be working with communities, building trust, sparking curiosity, and raising aspirations. Engaging and inspiring communities to continue their learning journey beyond Xplore!

Our Vision

To see the local and regional communities actively engaged with and passionate about science.

Our Mission

We communicate and share science in exciting and innovative ways with everyone regardless of age, ability, or background.

Our Values

  • Supportive – a close-knit work family that celebrates each-others’ successes.
  • Learner-focussed – passing on knowledge and sharing best practices; acting as a bridge between society and scientists.
  • Inclusive – of others by appreciating and encouraging diversity within the workplace as well as actively engaging hard to reach communities.
  • Passionate – about our planet; actively working towards creating an environmentally sustainable centre.
  • Proud – of our Welsh culture and of our charitable aims and objectives

What We Offer Visiting Schools

Teachers are able to choose from a range of 44 different workshops, all based around Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.  They can be easily linked to themes that classes are currently working on and they are all curriculum-linked.  Workshops are all fun, interactive and presenter-led.

Children will love to explore our 85+ different exhibits that will teach them to think outside of the box, to problem-solve and to try, test and investigate, all in a fun and safe environment.

Why Choose Us for an Educational Visit

At Xplore! we specialise in inspiring young minds and enriching learners’ development.

Our extensive programme of curriculum linked activities is available throughout the year both at Xplore! or at your school.

We offer sessions from early years to key stage 4 and our activities can be adapted to meet the abilities of the group. Our fully trained science communicators will deliver in your choice of Welsh, English or Bilingually.

Subjects and Topics Covered

We offer 40+ different interactive workshops, all based around science, technology, engineering and maths. Examples include Body Bother; an Early Years workshop where students investigate the different parts of the body and how we can eat a balanced meal.

Our Space workshop aimed at Early Years encourages exploration of space, astronauts and planets, right up to Key Stage 4 workshops that focus on what we need to launch a rocket, understanding spaceports and the forces, formulas and principles around rocketry.
