Over the next two days, you and your students will have the opportunity to explore various landmarks, museums, and parks, immersing yourselves in the city’s unique offerings. From fascinating museums to beautiful green spaces, Leeds caters perfectly for a variety of educational trips.

Day 1:

Arrival by coach at 11:30

Check-in at your accommodation and freshen up

Afternoon

12:30 PM – 2:30 PM: Lotherton Hall

Lotherton Hall provides insights into the lives of the aristocracy during that period. Students can explore the opulent interiors, admire the fine art collection, and learn about the historical context of the estate. Additionally, Lotherton Hall boasts expansive gardens, woodland walks, and a bird garden, allowing students to appreciate the beauty of nature and biodiversity.

3:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Explore the Royal Armouries Museum

Immerse yourself in the world of arms and armor at the Royal Armouries Museum. Explore its extensive collection, from medieval weaponry to modern military equipment, and learn about the history and craftsmanship behind them.

Evening

5:30 PM – 6:30 PM: Evening Meal

Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant or at your accommodation. 

6:30 PM – 9:00 PM Free Time

Give your students a break with some optional free time for group activities, relaxation or to explore the city centre and the close by shopping centres of Leeds Trinity and The Core. 

Day 2

Morning

9:00 AM – 10:30 AM: Leeds Industrial Museum

Begin your day by visiting the Leeds Industrial Museum at Armley Mills. Housed in a former textile mill, this museum offers a fascinating insight into Leeds’ industrial heritage. Explore the machinery, exhibits, and interactive displays that depict the city’s industrial past, including textiles, printing, and engineering. Learn about the working conditions and technological advancements that shaped Leeds into an industrial powerhouse.

11:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Harewood House

Located on the outskirts of Leeds, this grand estate offers students the opportunity to delve into history, art, and culture. With its stunning architecture, exquisite interiors, and extensive grounds, Harewood House provides a glimpse into aristocratic life throughout the ages. Students can explore lavishly decorated rooms, learn about the historic significance of the house, and appreciate the craftsmanship and artistry on display. The landscaped gardens and diverse wildlife add an extra dimension to the visit, allowing students to appreciate the natural beauty and environmental conservation efforts. A trip to Harewood House offers a memorable educational experience, combining history, architecture, and nature in a captivating setting.

Afternoon

1:30 PM – 3:30 Leeds Discovery Centre

Visit the Leeds Discovery Centre for a behind-the-scenes tour of their extensive collection of artifacts. Discover fascinating natural history specimens, cultural objects, and gain insight into the preservation and conservation efforts undertaken by the museum.

4:00 PM – 6:00 PM: Thwaite Mills Watermill 

Step back in time as you explore this fully restored working watermill that showcases the history of milling and milling technology. Take a guided tour to understand the process of grain grinding and witness the mighty waterwheel in action. Discover the impact of water power on industrial development and gain insights into the importance of milling in the region’s history.

Evening

6:30 PM – 7:30 PM: Evening Meal 

Either enjoy a meal at your choice of accommodation or at one of the many restaurants close by in the city centre. 

7:30 PM – 9:30 PM: Group Activity

Engage your students in a fun group activity, such as a quiz night or a movie night before curfew.

Day 3:

Morning

Take some time to pack your belongings, collect the pack lunches and hand them out to your students and then check out of your accommodation.

9:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Leeds Art Gallery

Begin your morning with a visit to Leeds Art Gallery, a cultural gem in the heart of the city. Explore the impressive collection of modern and contemporary art, featuring works by renowned artists such as Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, and Damien Hirst. Afternoon:

11:30 AM – 1:00 PM: Thackray Medical Museum

1:30 PM – 3:30PM: Bradford Science and Media Museum

4:00 PM: Return to School

Get your students ready and settled and return to the coaches to embark on your journey back home.
