Welcome to our school trip to Scarborough – 2 nights stay.  Scarborough is a charming coastal town with a wealth of attractions and natural beauty to explore, within the city, along the coast and inland towards the beautiful settings of the North Yorkshire Moors. This school trip itinerary will take you on a journey along the scenic coast, visiting notable destinations such as Whitby and the North Yorkshire Moors. Prepare for a blend of history, outdoor adventures, and educational experiences that will make your trip both enjoyable and enriching.

Day 1

Morning

10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: En Route to Scarborough: Eden Camp Modern History Theme Museum

To break up your journey, stop at Eden Camp Modern History Theme Museum near Malton, a former prisoner of war camp that has been transformed into a modern history theme museum. Explore the interactive exhibits and immersive displays that delve into the history of World War II and other significant events of the 20th century. Gain insights into the daily life and experiences of people during wartime.

12:30 PM – 2:00 PM Scarborough Castle

Start your trip by visiting the iconic Scarborough Castle. Explore the ruins of this medieval fortress perched on the cliffs overlooking the sea. Learn about its fascinating history and enjoy panoramic views of the coastline. Engage with interactive displays that bring the past to life.

Afternoon

2:30 PM – 4:30  PM: Rotunda Museum

Explore the fascinating geological history of the Yorkshire Coast at the Rotunda Museum. Discover an extensive collection of fossils and learn about the region’s ancient past. Engage in interactive exhibits and educational displays that showcase the unique geological features of the area.

5:00 PM – 6:30 PM: Scarborough Sea Life Sanctuary

Immerse yourselves in the wonders of marine life at the Scarborough Sea Life Sanctuary. Discover a variety of sea creatures through interactive exhibits and educational presentations. Encounter sharks, rays, and other fascinating marine species. Learn about conservation efforts and the importance of protecting our oceans.

Evening

7:00 PM: Arrival at Accommodation

Arrive at your accommodation and collect the room keys to give out to the kids for their pre-assigned rooms before heading to dinner.

7:30 PM – 8:30 PM: Evening Meal 

After a long and exciting day, you’ll no doubt be famished and ready to enjoy your evening meal at your accommodation followed by some quiet time before the evening curfew.

Day 2

Morning

9:00 AM: Depart for Whitby

Travel along the scenic coastal route to the charming town of Whitby, approximately 1.5 hours from Scarborough.

10:30 AM – 12:30 PM: Whitby Abbey

Explore the majestic ruins of Whitby Abbey, an ancient monastery that holds centuries of history. Discover the connection to Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” and enjoy breathtaking views of the town and coastline from the abbey’s vantage point. Once you’ve finished

Afternoon

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Captain Cook Memorial Museum

Step into the world of Captain James Cook, the famous British explorer, at the Captain Cook Memorial Museum. Learn about his voyages, maritime discoveries, and scientific achievements. Explore the museum’s collection of artifacts, maps, and documents that shed light on Cook’s fascinating life.
Late Afternoon:

3:15 PM – 5:00 PM: Whitby Harbour and Beach

Take a leisurely stroll along Whitby’s picturesque harbor, filled with fishing boats and charming cottages. Enjoy some free time on the beach, where you can build sandcastles, explore rock pools, or simply relax and soak up the coastal atmosphere.

6:00 PM – 7:00 PM Evening Meal

Arrive back in Scarborough and enjoy an evening meal out at a local restaurant followed by an evening of group activities either at your accommodation or down on Scarborough beach.

Day 3

Morning

9:00 AM: Depart for North Yorkshire Moors

It’s time to leave your accommodation and Scarborough behind, but taking home invaluable experiences and lasting memories. Venture into the stunning landscapes of the North Yorkshire Moors and to your first destination of the day.

10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Dalby Forest

Arrive at Dalby Forest, a magnificent woodland within the North Yorkshire Moors. Explore the forest trails, enjoy the fresh air, and immerse yourselves in nature’s beauty.

12:30 PM – 2:30 PM: Go Ape at Dalby Forest

Take your outdoor adventure to new heights with Go Ape at Dalby Forest. Challenge yourselves with high ropes courses, zip lines, and treetop obstacles. Experience the thrill of swinging through the forest canopy and enjoying breathtaking views. Engage in team-building activities and overcome obstacles together.

3:00 PM: Journey Home

After a fun-filled day with plenty of team building activities, it’s time to get the students back onto the coaches and head on home.
