West Midlands Safari Park

The Safari Academy at West Midlands Safari Park is a sustainable, state-of-the-art education centre offering inspiring learning opportunities for pupils of all ages. Set within a natural, tree-lined environment near the Hippo Lakes, the Academy provides a unique setting where pupils can explore the natural world and discover the importance of conservation.

Safari Academy at West Midlands Safari Park

West Midlands Safari Park is an award-winning visitor attraction in Worcestershire, in the heart of England. Alongside the four-mile Safari Drive, the Park is home to an extensive Safari Walk, an Ice Age and Land of the Living Dinosaurs experience, and an Adventure Theme Park.

Learning brought to life

The Safari Academy’s education team is passionate about inspiring the next generation of conservationists. With five purpose-built classrooms and a range of engaging, curriculum-linked sessions, the Academy welcomes groups from early years through to university level.

Sessions cover a wide variety of topics, including habitats, animal behaviour and adaptations, evolution, plants, biodiversity, psychology and careers in conservation. Pupils can learn through a combination of interactive classroom sessions, hands-on experiences and outdoor exploration.

Educational experiences

Discovery Sessions

These 45-minute sessions are designed to complement school topics and themes, with subjects including Discover Dinosaurs, Lifecycles and Exploring Evolution.

Creature Features

Perfect for younger groups, these hands-on sessions give pupils the opportunity to meet some of the Park’s smaller, furry residents while learning about their diets, habitats and behaviours.

Phobia Workshop

Designed for older students, the Phobia Workshop offers a unique opportunity to face their fears while discovering the psychology behind phobias. Students can explore why fears develop, how they affect us and the psychological responses associated with them, combining an engaging experience with educational insight.

Walking Safaris

Take learning outdoors with a guided walk through some of the Park’s unique areas, including the African Village, Discovery Trail, Ice Age and Land of the Living Dinosaurs.

Safari Ranger Sessions

Groups can venture onto the four-mile Safari Drive with a member of the education team on board. Along the way, pupils can learn fascinating facts about the incredible animals that call the Park home, bringing their classroom learning to life.

Make a day of it

For an end-of-term treat, groups can round off their visit at the Adventure Theme Park, with a variety of rides and attractions to enjoy. Younger children can explore the multi-sensory and interactive Explorers’ Play Park, providing plenty of opportunities for fun after a day of learning.

Whether you’re exploring evolution, meeting animals, discovering habitats, investigating psychology or developing an understanding of conservation, the Safari Academy offers an unforgettable learning experience in the heart of West Midlands Safari Park.
