Your day-by-day itinerary
Lindisfarne & the journey north
En route to Edinburgh we break the journey at Lindisfarne, with time for a walk around Holy Island before continuing north.
Arrive at your accommodation in Edinburgh in the late afternoon, with time to sort out rooms before dinner and a briefing on the week ahead.
Edinburgh Castle & the Old Town
A morning visit to Edinburgh Castle, set high on the castle rock with stunning views across the city. A tour of the castle is followed by lunch.
A short walk from the castle. From inside the mysterious rooftop chamber students see live moving images of Edinburgh and can play with them using the array of mirrors and lenses.
Edinburgh's deepest secret: a warren of hidden closes where real people lived, worked and died.
After an early dinner, continue learning about Edinburgh's colourful past by joining a guided ghost walk around the city.
The Royal Yacht Britannia & Arthur’s Seat
Step aboard the Queen's former floating palace, consistently rated Scotland's best attraction. You have access to the Royal Apartments, Engine Room and Crew's Quarters, with time afterwards to explore Leith's independent cafes and shops.
Work off some energy climbing King Arthur's Seat for magical views over Edinburgh and the Firth of Forth, before descending and walking back to the hotel.
National Museum of Scotland & the Royal Mile
After lunch there is an opportunity to explore the Royal Mile and do a spot of shopping before heading back to the accommodation.
Alnwick Castle & home
If time permits, stop off en route home at Alnwick Castle to explore the medieval grounds and the lavish State Rooms. Guided tours and specialised workshops are available.
