Itinerary

Day 1

Upon arrival via coach, settle into the comfortable accommodations provided. The afternoon is dedicated to the exploration of Hadrian’s Wall Heritage site. There’s an abundance of activities available each evening, facilitated by the Northumberland National Park Authority. These include engaging sessions on geology, geography, dark skies, and astronomy, conducted by their knowledgeable staff and selected local partners.

Day 2

The morning kicks off with a visit to Housesteads, offering a glimpse into the lifestyle of the Romans and an opportunity for a walk along the historic wall. Following a satisfying lunch, the journey continues to the Vindolanda Museum. This unique site boasts an outdoor area with ongoing live excavation, providing an authentic experience of the Roman era. Additionally, the indoor Roman Army museum houses a collection of rare treasures, adding depth to the understanding of this rich historical period.

Day 3

After a hearty breakfast, the day begins with an exploration of the Brocolitia Roman Temple. This well-preserved site offers a fascinating insight into Roman religious practices. Dedicated to Mithras, the God of Light, the temple mimics the cave where Mithras slew a bull, symbolizing the origin of all goodness. Following a delightful picnic lunch, it’s time to board the coach for the journey homeward, concluding this immersive and educational excursion.
